Review of Doppelganger

Doppelganger

(The Doppelgangers #1)

By Milda Harris

About:

Citrus Leahy is having a really bad day. First she's late to school. Then she runs into the girl who drives her nuts because she always calls her Orange instead of her name. To cap it all off, when Citrus finally makes it to class, she sees herself already inside. Wait. What? Citrus Leahy has a doppelganger! It's probably aliens taking over the world and her life has just turned totally upside down. Goodbye, normal. Hello, paranormal! Luckily, her crush Aedan has the exact same problem!

My rating: 4/5

My Thoughts:

If you think your life is packed with drama, meet Citrus. First she oversleeps and then when she rushes to her World History Class so she isn’t late for her exam she realises she is already in the class. Well, Citrus’ doppelganger is. Thinking she has lost her mind she bumps into her crush, Aedan. Weirdest thing is that his doppelganger is in class too!

Aedan and Citrus spend their day trying to work out what the doppelgangers want, who is real and who isn’t and what is happening with the world?!!

I really enjoyed reading this, and particularly liked the twist in the end (no spoilers). Citrus’ overactive imagination and her fear of getting pimples whilst with the boy she likes is hilarious given the situation and the fact that there are more important things at stake. I can’t wait to read the second book in this series to learn more about the doppelgangers and to find out whether the ‘real versions’ manage to escape or not.

Favourite quote:
Somehow, I had pictured this moment in my head, sitting alone with Aedan in a car, as so much more romantic. Of course, we hadn’t had evil doppelgangers in any of those dreams either, but that was a technicality.
